Terms of Service
Synced verbatim from the canonical source in the repo. The desktop app’s in-app reader shows the same text.
1. Acceptance
By using VERI-fy you agree to these Terms of Service and the VERI-fy Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the application.
2. Description of Service
VERI-fy is an experimental desktop application that uses the Google Gemini API to detect AI-generated video content displayed on your screen. It is a research prototype and is provided for informational and educational purposes only.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use VERI-fy.
4. API Key
VERI-fy requires a Google Gemini API key that you provide. You are solely responsible for:
- Obtaining the API key from Google in compliance with Google's terms.
- Any charges, rate limits, or policy consequences associated with your key.
- Keeping your key confidential.
VERI-fy does not store your API key on disk. It is held in process memory for the duration of the session only.
5. Permitted Use
VERI-fy is intended for personal, educational, and research use. You agree not to use VERI-fy to:
- Make medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions based on its
output.
- Circumvent, attack, or interfere with any third-party service, platform, or
content-protection mechanism.
- Process content that you do not have the right to view or analyze.
- Misrepresent VERI-fy output as authoritative forensic evidence in any legal,
regulatory, or judicial proceeding.
6. Fair Use & Free Tier Quotas
The Free tier of VERI-fy is a single per-person allowance that includes 6 video analyses and 10 photo analyses per calendar month. To keep this allowance available to genuine users, VERI-fy detects duplicate accounts through a one-way hashed device signal and a partially-masked public IP address, as described in section 10 of the Privacy Policy.
You agree:
- Not to create multiple Free-tier accounts in order to exceed the monthly
quotas.
- Not to use automation, scripts, or shared infrastructure for the express
purpose of multiplying Free-tier capacity.
- That accounts found to be duplicates of an existing Free-tier account may
be merged, suspended, or downgraded without prior notice.
Premium subscribers are exempt from the duplicate-account check beyond standard fraud-prevention signals. Quota measurement, retention windows, and deletion timelines are documented in the Privacy Policy.
7. No Warranty
VERI-fy is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
VERI-fy may produce false positives (flagging real video as AI-generated) or false negatives (failing to detect AI-generated video). You should not rely on VERI-fy as the sole basis for any consequential decision.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developers of VERI-fy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your use of or inability to use VERI-fy.
- Any output, verdict, or score produced by VERI-fy.
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data by third parties (including
Google) after it leaves your device.
9. Third-Party Services
VERI-fy relies on the Google Gemini API. Your use of Google's services is governed by Google's own terms:
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or data-handling practices of Google's services.
10. Intellectual Property
VERI-fy source code is provided under the terms stated in the project repository. These Terms of Service do not grant you any rights to the VERI-fy name, logo, or trademarks beyond what is necessary to use the software as intended.
11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Istanbul, Turkey.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the in-app consent flow (the consent version will be incremented). Continued use after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Contact
For questions about these Terms, open an issue in the project repository or contact the maintainer directly.
